Cogni-Scope ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that monitors YouTube video watching
and presents AI-generated comprehension questions to track cognitive performance and
memory retention. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Email address — used to identify your account and sync your data across sessions.
Video watch activity — titles of YouTube videos you watch while the extension is active.
Question responses — your answers, response times, and scores from comprehension checkpoints.
How We Use Your Data
To authenticate your account and maintain your session.
To display your personal performance dashboard.
To generate and store your comprehension question history.
To calculate and track your memory retention metrics over time.
Data Sharing
Your data is sent to our secure AWS Lambda backend solely to store and retrieve your personal performance history.
Comprehension questions are generated using the OpenAI API using only the video transcript — no personal data is sent to OpenAI.
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to any third parties.
We do not use your data for advertising or any purposes unrelated to the extension's function.
Data Storage
Your score and answer history are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in
storage API. Your account data is stored securely on our backend infrastructure.
Your Rights
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Uninstalling the
extension will remove all locally stored data from your browser immediately.
